TAPE BACKUP

Imation takes has replaced the traditional tape back up device with a new, disk based backup system.

The new RDX consists of the A8, an 8 cartridge iSCSI, 2U storage station and the eight removable cartridges.

The system is capable of delivering up to 60MB/s or 150GB per hour performance

Imation also released single dock versions, one for internal and one or external use.

The external uses a USB 3.0 interface and the internal uses eSATA

The new tapeless, tape backup allows for up to 1TB but imation is already planning 1.5 and 2TB drives.
